Please check the level requirements before booking for advanced workshops as it is your total responsibility to book the right level. You can contact us at any time by phone or e-mail to be assessed on your photography level.
The minimum age to join our Academy is 16 years old (younger students can join with written authorization from parent/guardian, please contact us before booking)
Yes, every student receives an e-certificate (PDF file) after workshop/course completion. If you require a print copy, you can request it as well.
We recommend starting with Digital Photography Level 1 for most students, even if you think you know your camera very well. On this workshop, you will learn to use the Manual Settings on your camera and really understand all the shortcut buttons and functions properly. If you have been taking pictures for a long time, but still use AUTO mode, P mode or SCENE modes, The Digital Photography Level 1 will be very good for you. Even if you have some knowledge, but are still unsure or need confirmation, you will be amazed on how much more there is to learn about what we think we know.
Yes, if you can use your camera in fully Manual mode and have a complete understanding of Lenses, Image Size and Quality, Advanced Exposure, Bracketing, Depth of Field, Motion Blur, Priority Modes and Focus you can come straight to Level 2.
Most people who come to Level 2 have done Level 1 before, and we’ll expect you to be fluent in the Level 1 Syllabus
You need a Camera with FULLY MANUAL EXPOSURE, Mirrorless, (DSLR) or a Pro-Compact, “being able to control ISO, Shutter Speeds and Apertures manually”.

Yes, some of our students bring the camera still in the box. It is great to learn the right way from scratch, so don’t worry about not knowing anything before the course. You will only need to charge the battery and also bring a memory card.
Ideally, you would learn with your own camera because different models vary a lot. When buying a camera you have to think about the size, weight, design, etc…
We have DSLR cameras which you can use free of charge during workshop hours. Please confirm availability via e-mail before booking the course.
If you would like to take the camera home for the assignments during your course, a refundable deposit of N100k plus N15k a day fee will be charged in advance.
We recommend the following cameras kits on an entry level:
CANON 60D or 7D body + 18-200mm lens (Canon or Sigma) or Standard 18 to 55mm lens.
NIKON D7100 or D5300 body + 18-200mm lens (Nikon or Sigma) or Standard 18 to 55mm lens.
The cameras and lenses above meet all the requirements for great pictures, they are light and we chose an “all in one” zoom lens that is great for General Photography. It’s a light kit, ideal for travel.
Let us know if you intend to pursue a career in photography and we will be able to recommend the right equipment for the field you choose.
Our weekday and weekends workshops run from 10:30am to 4:30pm, with 10 minutes coffee/tea break and 1 hour lunch break. Our evening workshops run from 6:30pm to 9:00pm with 10 minutes coffee/tea break.
During the Daytime and Evening Workshops on Wednesday you are off with assignments
(Water – Coffee – Tea and Biscuits in our Studios are free).
Bookings can only be rescheduled with 14 days (2 Weeks) notice and must be taken within three months from the original booking. If you decide to withdraw from a workshop, you must inform us at least 14 days (2 Weeks) before the first day of class. If given the minimum notice, we will refund your fees, less a N30k withdrawal fee for Weekend and Evening Classes and N50k for all other courses and workshops.
Our obligations to the professionals who teach at LSP dictate that no refund of payments will be made to you if you do not notify us of your withdrawal 14 days (2 Weeks) before the start of the workshop.

There are numerous career opportunities for makeup artists. Many makeup artists work with models, movie stars, and sometimes musicians. They transform these individuals and give them the look that they need for a performance, photo shoot, or movie set. Makeup artists also work with TV presenters and even politicians to ensure that they look their best before appearing in front of millions of people.
The truth is as a makeup artist, your job may not necessarily have you rubbing elbows with the entertainment elite, but it is certainly very fulfilling. These roles not only help a new makeup artist gain experience, it also helps them earn a substantial income. At House of Tara, our makeup artists work as sales-people applying their knowledge of makeup artistry to help women discover which beauty products complement their skin tone and face shape.
At Shutteris Academy, we understand the need to give back to our community. The Annual Scholarship program serves as an avenue to empower young people. The scholarships are given yearly. Interested applicants are to submit applications at the House of Tara International head office. Our in-house panel of beauty experts will review each candidate’s application and proceed to invite the top students for an oral interview at the Shutteris Academy office.
Following the interview, the successful candidates will be invited and given a scholarship. Content and nature of scholarship will be communicated every year.
